Siena Jazz
Siena Jazz is a non-profit cultural institution, founded as an Association on September 9th 1977, by the Municipality of Siena, the Province of Siena and the Siena’s Jazz Association. The main activities have developed since 1989, as per statute, in three specific areas: TEACHING, RESEARCH AND PRODUCTION.
In 2017 the statute and the name have been changed in "Siena Jazz - Accademia Nazionale del Jazz".
The Siena Jazz Academy has been recognized for years as a qualified educational reality and a national reference point for the improvement, high qualification, vocational training and the enhancement of young musicians .
The operational headquarters is located in a Medici fortress, with 21 classrooms modernly equipped for teaching with a sound archive, a library and a laboratory that constitute the National Center for Jazz Studies "Arrigo Polillo". The Study Center contains over 90,000 media between paper and video-sound materials .
Siena jazz is among the first members of the I.A.S.J. - International Association of Schools of Jazz, an association based in Holland (The Hague) that includes the most important schools of jazz in the world.
