How did you learn to play? Where did you study?
I have studied in 5 countries! First in Iceland in FÍH School of Music, then for my bachelor I studied in Den Haag, Netherlands and lastly I did a masters program called NoCom: The Composing Musician, which took place in Oslo, Gothenburg and Copenhagen.
Who are the musicians that influenced you the most?
Misha Alperin, Keith JarreL, Nick Drake and GusGus
What are your thoughts and opinions on today’s jazz scene?
I think todays jazz scene is diverse, open and creaOve. But at the same time it is very competitive, and hard to make a name for oneself. I think there should also be more initiatives (like 7 Virtual Jazz Club), that creates opportunities for an upcoming artist.
Can you tell us more about your experience with the 7 Virtual Jazz Club?
It’s a nice initiative, to be able to compete online. Also it makes it possible for people all over the world to take part and possibly get recognized.
What are your upcoming projects?
I have recorded two albums that I haven’t released yet. The first one is a trio album, and the second one is a quartet album with Hilmar Jensson on guitar and Anders Jormin on bass!
