Eddy Determeyer (Netherlands)

Eddy Determeyer was born in 1942 in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. As a schoolboy of about nine, he first heard jazz on records at a neighbor’s home and at fifteen started building a collection of his own. Studying Aeronautics at Technische Hogeschool Delft he operated a club, Novum Jazz, from 1964 to 1968.

In 1970, he introduced contemporary jazz and imrovised music in Groningen, at the Chappaqua youth center.

Determeyer started writing about jazz in 1972, and has continued to contribute reviews, interviews, and commentaries to a variety of newspapers and magazines to this day.

He currently writes for www.draaiomjeoren.nl jazz blog, is the editor of Doctor Jazz Magazine, and produces radio shows (Holiday for Hipsters and Het Grote Geluid) for www.concertzender.nl
