Clarence Chang (Hong Kong)

He started his career as a music producer and in 2001 he opened Jazz World, the only jazz specialist CD's shop in Hong Kong and, since 2008, he co-founded the HK International Jazz Festival & HK Summer Jazz Festival. He brought to Hong Kong: P. Metheny, M. Stern, E. Gomez, H. Hancock, E. Pieranunzi, U. Wakenius, Tribal Tech, J. Abercrombie and more.

A veteran of Hong Kong music industry for over 30 years, he started his music career as a music producer, making “more sophisticated” music was his aim. His production credits include albums for artists like: Danny Summer, Lowell Lo, Beyond, Teddy Robin, Elisa Chan, Mimi Lo &Tsai Chin.  
Clarence also produced jazz albums for Dave Packer, William Tang & Outlet (Eugene Pao).
Clarence was recruited by GRP Records as their Asian Marketing Representative in 1992, to help to establish the then most popular jazz label in the world.  
Clarence got to become friends with lots of those great artists and their agents/managers, laying down the foundation for his future adventures.
In 2001, Clarence opened Jazz World, the only jazz specialist CDs shop in HK, and started to promote the occasional jazz concerts.
Since 2008, Clarence co-founded the HK International Jazz Festival & HK Summer Jazz Festival.
In 2013, Clarence started the Jazz World Live Series, bringing jazz shows to the HK audience almost in each month. “It is almost like a Jazz Festival that runs all year long”.
Currently, Clarence also hosts a weekly jazz program “Jazz Show” for Metro Finance Digital on Sunday.
