Ares Tavolazzi (Italy)
He studied cello and double bass at the Ferrara’s G. Frescobaldi conservatory. During the Seventies works as a session-man in Milan for various music labels, records with Francesco Guccini and plays in about 700 of his live concerts. Records 5 long playings with Paolo Conte and plays in lots of his live concerts. 
 
Plays for: Eugenio Finardi, Alberto Camerini, Miriam Makeba, Lucio Dalla, Mia Martini, Teresa De Sio, Lucio Battisti, Mina, I Giganti, Vinicio Capossela, Massimo Ranieri etc… 
 
In 1974 plays in the progressive group AREA (Patrizio Fariselli, Demetrio Stratos, Giulio Capiozzo and Paolo Tofani) and plays in the group until 1982 and records over 10 LP with the group and partecipate sto various italian (over 800 concerts in 8 years) and International (Cuba International Festival, do Avante Lisboa Festival, Humanitè Festival in Paris) events. 
 
During the eighties gets closer to jazz. He will spend time in New York in the jazz world. He starts to improve improvisation. Back from New York he will take part in the italian tournee with the Gil Evans orchestra, with Pietro Tonolo, Steve Lacy, Ray Anderson, Lew Soloff, John Clark. 
 
In the 83-84 tours with Kenny Wheeler, Bruno Cesselli, Slatko Kaucic e Mauro Negri. For three consecutive years (84-85-86) is first place in a special ranking of the best bass players on “Guitar Club”. In 1987 receives in Ferrara the “A. Willaert” prize as best musician of the year, and founds a quintet with Bruno Cesselli, Piero Odorici, Marco Tamburini e Glauco Oleandri and partecipate sto “Umbria Jazz”. In “Umbria Jazz” will play with Fabrizio Sferra, Fabio Zeppetella e Ramberto Ciammarughi as well. Works during the years to various theatrical works and plays live, with the Teatro di Pontedera Foundation (“Ruth directed by Silvia Pasello and “Il Cantico dei Cantici” directed by Silvia Pasello, “Aspettando Godot” directed by Roberto Bacci, “Mutando Riposa” directed by Roberto Bacci and “Amleto” directed by Roberto Bacci).
 
He has been a teacher for these schools: Milan’s C.P.M., Ferrara’s Charlie Chaplin, Rovereto’s C.D.M., Bologna’s Container, Livorno’s Mascagni Conservatory. He organized various seminaries all around Italy ( Merano’s 2008-2009 jazz seminary, Fara Sabina’s 2007-2009 jazz seminary). He was a teacher at the Ferrara’s G.B. Frescobaldi  conservatory in the three Jazz years degree from 2008 to 2012. Organizes seminaries about rythm for theatral actors at the Pontedera’s “Il codice del ritmo” (Pontedera Teatro Foundation) and in Matera (Teatro dei Sassi.
